Avio Aero is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Military Design Engineering team, focusing on engine components manufactured through additive technologies such as DMLM, including heat exchangers and structural parts. The role involves design, certification, and production support activities, with end-to-end responsibility for the component, including design validation, testing, certification, and entry into service. Job Description Essential Responsibilities Capture system requirements, flow-down to components definition identifying relevant validation needs Issue technical documents relative to the components design according to engineering policies and procedures (drawings, presentations as well as analysis reports) Contribute and participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews Develop components and modules design to cost, performance and life objectives Proactively support and coordinate activities with manufacturing departments and Suppliers to implement product improvements (eg concurrent design, cost-out activities). Drive the design phase toward component certification, including the submission of certification reports Support source technological substantiation and non-conformances assessment Support activities related to development findings, components performance and investigations (test requests, test data postprocess, laboratories investigation) Qualification/Requirements Master's Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering Fundamental understanding of mechanical design (static, strength of materials, dynamics etc.) Basic knowledge of additive components design, preferably using DMLM technology Basic knowledge of component certification requirements, for example per FAA CFR14 part 33.91 Good interpersonal and communication skills. Team-working and inclusiveness proven capabilities Clear thinking, diligent approach, result oriented, standard work approach and oriented to continuous improvements Fluent English and Italian, both written and oral Strong oral and written communication skills Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required Desired Characteristics Knowledge of aeronautical aero-engines components or modules, technical requirements, design solutions, technologies Previous experience in mechanical design of complex products and New Product Introduction process Fundamentals of fluid mechanics and heat transfer Experience with CAD tools (e.g. Unigraphics NX) Experience on structure stress analysis Capable to work in multicultural environment, preferable previous international experience Curiosity and passion for mechanical design
