This role is essential to protecting our customers and the integrity of our platform by conducting deep-dive investigations, monitoring transactions, and ensuring we remain at the forefront of regulatory compliance. Acorns is a remote-first organization, offering the flexibility to work remotely while providing optional access to office space in Irvine, CA. What you will do at Acorns: Draft and file high-quality Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) that provide clear, concise narratives for law enforcement and regulators. Perform end-to-end investigations into complex customer activity to identify potential suspicious activity, such as money laundering, identity theft, and fraud. Compare Know Your Customer (KYC) information to Sanctions and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) lists to verify false and true positives. Analyze transaction patterns and customer profiles to determine if activity is consistent with a customer's known occupation or business purpose. Collaborate with the Product and Engineering teams to refine automated monitoring rules and reduce false positives while maintaining high detection standards. Stay ahead of emerging financial crime trends and regulatory changes to ensure Acorns' controls remain "game-changing" and effective. Assist with internal audits and external regulatory examinations. What you will bring to Acorns: Proven experience in BSA/AML compliance, specifically within a fintech or high-volume financial services environment. Strong analytical skills with the ability to connect disparate data points to form a comprehensive view of customer behavior. Technical proficiency with AML monitoring software and case management systems. Excellent written communication skills, with a focus on precision and clarity in investigative reporting.
