Job description: Purpose of the Role: To lead and coordinate blasting operations at Sentinel Mine by overseeing blasting personnel, resources, materials, and associated work processes. The position provides technical expertise and guidance on all blasting-related matters to ensure that blasting activities are safely executed, meet operational and quality standards, and are completed within agreed production schedules. Specific Job Responsibility Responsible for supervising day-to-day blasting works and provide guidance Encouraging teamwork, facilitating related professional work processes and resolve any escalated onsite issues to ensure that work is correctly prioritized and completed. Monitor the explosive contractor and ensure work quality is followed in executing day to day work. Put up the program of ensuring MMU Truck Calibrations are as to specifications and Charging procedures are followed. In Charge of checking double booking on the explosive contractor loading sheets and making sure the Dip sheets are as specified. Responsible for on Bench QAQC activities in regards to overcharging and undercharging Responsible for compiling reports on Blasting and filing Blasting Data. To ensure that all work in all areas of activity is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating policies and procedures. Provide on-the-job training and give constructive feedback to Subordinates to support their overall development. Responsible for on Bench QAQC activities in regards to overcharging and undercharging To ensure that all work in all areas of activity is carried out in an efficient manner and PTOs, STC, CCV are conducted on blocks. Accountable to ensure that resources are effectively and timely assigned and used in the Blasting operations with overall resource plan developed by the Coordinator/Superintendent e.g.; (PPE, gloves, grasses, disposables etc.). Job Specific Competencies Safety Leadership Technical Blasting Expertise Planning and Organizing Team Leadership and Development Problem Solving and Decision-Making Quality and Compliance Management Communication and Stakeholder Management Accountability and Results Orientation Experience required to perform in this job Minimum of 7 year of experience as Blaster in a Mining Environment Prior experience in an open pit setup is an added advantage Be conversant with applicable Sleeving Methods Demonstrate working knowledge of Axxis Electronics Must possess knowledge of working with Blast IQ loggers
