About the role

This position is located in organizations throughout the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF). The incumbent will provide assistance in a confidential capacity, working closely with the Office Directors, Program and Operations Manager, and other senior leadership within the division. The incumbent will use discretion and tact while communicating frequently with NSF and interagency contacts, typically at the highest levels of senior management. To qualify at the GS-07 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 Level in the Federal service providing administrative support in the areas of correspondence, calendar management, travel management, and data entry. Examples of specialized experience include: providing a full range of administrative support that includes tracking work products, following up on actions, composing and typing confidential correspondence, maintaining a calendar, and planning and coordinating travel. OR possess one full year of graduate-level education. OR have a Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (as evidenced by class standing in the upper third of the graduating class; 3.0-grade point average on a 4.0 scale for all academic work; grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale in the major field of study; or election to membership in a national honor scholastic society). OR have a combination of post-high school education and experience that together meet the qualification requirements for this position. To qualify at the GS-9 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service analyzing administrative support processes to recommend improvements in the areas of correspondence, calendar management, travel management, and data entry. Examples of specialized experience include: serving as a personal assistant in a confidential capacity to a senior agency official; performing management planning, meeting planning, and coordinating and organizing policy activities; performing various administrative duties independently; and completing special assignments of a high priority and sensitive nature. OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR A combination of post high school education and experience that together meet the qualification requirements for this position. Experience refers to paid/unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training/experience that translates directly to paid work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
