Engineering Technician (Direct Hire)

About the role

You will serve as Engineering Technician for the Engineering Division within the Engineering and Test Directorate. You will use your 3D modeling skills to generate 3D models as well as perform the checking function on 3D and 2D drawings to ensure modeling and drafting standards are met. You will use your knowledge of Creo, AutoCAD, Windchill, and specialized elements within those tools to define best practices. You will work with NASA Centers on Agency initiatives for Model Based Engineering. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service: Generating 3D models and fabrication drawings of piping/structural systems using PTC Creo (or similar software), and integrating the models/drawings into the PTC Windchill configuration management system (or similar software); Assisting in resolving a range of 3D modeling/drafting problems (e.g. circular references, improper constraints) identified by ModelCHECK (or similar tool) and checking models/drawings to ensure compliance with standards; AND Generating and checking Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) drafted in AutoCAD (or similar software).
