About the role
Department The School for Business and Society (SBS) at the University of York is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Human Resource Management (Teaching & Research) to join our People, Work and Employment group. Role You will develop and lead a programme of original research alongside delivering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Drawing on expertise in Human Resource Management and/or Employment Studies you will make a significant contribution to the group's research strategy and output. You will design and deliver engaging, innovative learning experiences, set and mark assessments, supervise student projects, and contribute to curriculum review and development. You will also develop competitive research proposals, pursue external funding, and publish in high-quality journals and other appropriate media. Responsibilities extend to contributing to module and programme administration, postgraduate research supervision, and the collegial life of the department. Skills, Experience & Qualification needed A PhD in Management, Human Resource Management, Employment Studies or a closely related discipline (or equivalent experience), along with an academic professional teaching qualification or willingness to complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice. Specialist knowledge of Human Resource Management and/or Employment Studies with a demonstrable track record of high-quality research evidenced through publications in internationally recognised journals and/or other appropriate media. Experience of teaching and learning in higher education at undergraduate or postgraduate level, including course design, delivery, assessment, and student supervision. Proven ability to develop research proposals and secure external funding, with the ambition to build an independent and collaborative research programme that contributes to the group's strategic themes. Highly developed written and oral communication skills, including the capacity to present research findings at international conferences and engage effectively with academic and non-academic audiences. A collaborative and collegial approach, with commitment to interdisciplinary working, departmental administration, and contributing to the wider academic community.
