Requirements
- This engagement is expected to be a 9-12 month contract.
- Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage air permitting activities with assistance by consultants, including communications, applications, modifications,compliance and audits for the Department of Ecology (Washington) and Bay Area Air District (California).
- Manage industrial wastewater compliance for Department of Ecology (Washington) and East Bay Municipal Utility District (California).
- Manage stormwater compliance for Department of Ecology (Washington) and State Water Resources Control Board (California).
- Manage hazardous waste programs, including vendor support, waste characterization, storage, disposal, auditing, and record-keeping.
- Reporting: prepare annual CERS submission, prepare waste reports, collect air permit required data and information for annual submission to BAAQMD & Department of Ecology.
- Ensure compliance for existing and new operations with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Conduct environmental audits and inspections to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate environmental source testing and submit report to agency in a timely manner
- Review and summarize source testing results for Sila leadership.
- Develop and deliver environmental training to employees.
- Assist with environmental incident reporting and investigation, contributing to root cause analysis and preventative measures.
- Communicate environmental performance metrics and regulatory updates effectively with site management.
- Collaborate with EHS&S staff to develop and implement environmental programs and initiatives.
- Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- BS Degree in an EHS field or at least 8-10 years relevant experience.
- At least 5 years of experience overseeing air permitting.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of staff and management.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to environmental management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in documenting findings and maintaining accurate records.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations in Washington State and the Bay Area (California), including air permitting (BAAD, Ecology), industrial wastewater, stormwater and hazardous waste management.
- Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Ability to walk moderate distances and be stationary for extended periods in various field environments.
- Ability to operate necessary equipment for environmental assessments and testing.
- Ability to occasionally climb stairs and ladders.
