The Biomed Tech provides biomedical support including preventive maintenance and repairs to all Clinical/Patient related equipment. This position will service & maintain equipment in areas assigned. Essential Duties: Tests all equipment assigned to and under the jurisdiction of the Biomedical Engineering department. Repairs and verifies the correct function of all equipment assigned to and under the jurisdiction of the Biomedical Engineering department. Assures all equipment in the biomedical equipment management program receives preventive maintenance, electrical safety testing and calibration in the month due as indicated by the equipment management program. Procures all parts required to assure the correct functioning of all equipment in the equipment management program in the absence of the Biomedical Engineering Manager. Represents the department in hospital committee meetings as required in the absence of the Biomedical Engineering Manager. Performs incoming equipment inspections, function testing and installation of all new patient-related medical devices as required. Documents all tests and inspections performed on all patient-related medical devices in order to meet the requirements of JCAHO, the Federal Government, the State of California and other regulatory agencies. Ensures documentation of 100% for Critical equipment and 95% for non-critical equipment. Knowledge of Sentinel and BCERP program, running report, input, and updating. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Req High School or equivalent Req Associate's Degree Biomedical Electronics/Electronics 4 years of related equivalent experience in lieu of an associate's degree Req 2 years Experience as a Biomed Technician in a medium sized hospital. Req Knowledgeable of all aspects of Biomedical Engineering. Req Knowledge of state, Federal, Local and JCAHO codes and standards applicable to the functions of the department is required. Req Able to function independently and as a member of a team. Req Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
