Job Description We are seeking a licensed landscape architect with 8-10 years of experience who is dedicated to cultural landscape preservation. Individuals with skills and knowledge to lead and support comprehensive planning and design projects, apply National Park Service (NPS) and Secretary of the Interior's (SOI) standards for cultural landscapes, and work with interdisciplinary teams to support resilient design and stewardship are highly encouraged to apply. This position provides opportunities for professional growth, exposure to a variety of project types, and immediate opportunities to contribute to the work of the firm. The Preservation Planning team at QE collaborates across disciplines and practice areas to create resilient planning and design solutions that connect people to heritage of urban and rural places. From revitalization and interpretation of historic sites to the preservation of places significant to Indigenous peoples, we strive for enduring stewardship in our work. Our award-winning portfolio includes cultural landscape reports, master plans, site designs, maintenance guidelines, historical studies, National Register and National Historical Landmark Nominations and climate adaptation consultation. Collaborative decision-making on projects is a hallmark of our process whether working with a vast national park to discreet city sites across the nation. Key Roles and Responsibilities Coordinate project teams, schedules, and budgets Facilitate collaborative projects including multiple disciplines, stakeholders, and the public Research, creative synthesis of archival documentation, historic mapping, and analysis to inform responsible planning, design, and interpretation for a broad range of cultural landscape types and scales Interact with the client and regulatory personnel Contribute to the preparation of Cultural Landscape Reports (CLRs), Cultural Landscape Inventories (CLIs), and other preservation planning documents, including site history, existing conditions assessment, and treatment recommendations Develop preservation strategies and design guidance that align with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards while accommodating contemporary use, accessibility, and resilience. Conduct field investigations and landscape documentation, including condition assessments, photographic surveys, and identification of character-defining features. Prepare illustrated reports and graphic documentation including maps and diagrams to clearly communicate landscape evolution and preservation recommendations.
