The Electrical Technician is responsible for the installing, maintaining, repairing, testing and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic systems used in the plant. The role involves working with production machinery, control panels, wiring and automation systems to ensure safe, efficient and uninterrupted operations. The role will troubleshoot faults, perform preventative maintenance, build and commission new equipment and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and production performance. Where is the position located? Weatherill Park, Sydney What will your typical day look like? Manufacturing Support: Perform preventative maintenance of electrical systems on building, installations and appliances. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical breakdowns in a manufacturing environment and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime. To work closely with the mechanical maintenance fitters to assist in maintenance and breakdown tasks, identifying faults and causes, and assist in repair and recommissioning. Work with the Production Supervisors and personnel to solve problems, identify necessary improvements and support with electrical knowledge/training as far as is appropriate. Install, maintain and troubleshoot industrial electrical systems, including motors, control panels and PLC's. Read and interpret electrical and electrical engineering schematics and technical drawings. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems. Ensure all work complies with relevant electrical codes, standards and safety regulations. Collaborate with engineers and other trades to support production and facility upgrades. Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used and compliance documentation. Respond to emergency breakdowns and participate in on-call rotations as required. Testing and Quality Assurance: Routinely inspect factory equipment (Monthly Safety Inspections). Perform tests of electrical systems, such as lead tagging and calibration testing, identify faults, and implementing corrections. Conduct electrical testing of new installations to ensure correct function and electrical safety. Collaboration and Training: As a member of the Engineering Department, work with other the maintenance and production teams as required using electrical knowledge to assist in a broad range of activities. Support the Engineering Manager with eyes on ground reporting. Participate in collaborative projects, such as Lean events, by bringing electrical knowledge to aid with solutions and improvements as identified. Participate in safety exercises such as risk assessments when required. Design and Development: Work with the Engineering Manager on improvements to the factory's electrical systems to meet future demand and capacity increases. Obtain understanding of the factory's information and computer systems, such as PLC, SCADA and database interaction. Using accumulated knowledge, assist the engineering team with designing and modifying equipment for manufacturing processes. What do we want to know about you? Qualifications and Experience Tertiary or Trade Qualifications. Current NSW Electrical Licence (Qualified Supervisor) SCADA and PLC knowledge Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles. Strong knowledge of the latest Australian electrical standards and WHS regulations. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment. Problem-solving and analytical skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
