As a Non-Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms care for patients and ensure the safety and health of the patient . In this role, you will provide safe and efficient practices for decontamination, instrument inspection, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment. You will be responsible for case cart management and ensuring compliance with departmental standards. Here, you will receive ample support, training and education, including knowledge of operating the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and sterilization tools and concepts A caregiver in this position works evenings from 2:30PM - 11:00PM. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment. Provide case cart management. Perform case pull functions efficiently and accurately. Demonstrate proper handling of equipment, instrumentation and chemicals. Perform preventative maintenance. Adhere to preventative maintenance schedules and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards during the decontamination process. Scan, sort, inspect and assemble instruments by instrument list and wrap and label as documented in the procedure. Ensure proper cleaning, decontamination, assembly and high-level disinfection of reusable instrumentation in accordance with AAMI ST79 standards. Monitor and control the distribution of supplies and equipment. Perform recordkeeping functions within the electronic tracking system, including processing, sterilization and quality assurance documentation. Build case carts using electronic preference cards and dispatch them to appropriate locations. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High S chool D iploma or GED Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) is required within 18 months after hire, unless an extension is granted at the purview of leadership Ability to use the computerized instrument tracking system to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documenting sterilization loads and other tasks Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: One year of healthcare experience or a similar background in mechanical/manufacturing assembly Pre-admission testing experience Military experience as a Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F) or similar will be considered Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh 20-30 pounds. Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 200+ pounds. Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
