Freight Rate Specialist

About the role

You will serve as a FREIGHT RATE SPECIALIST in the OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL AIR TERMINAL. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Determines the classification, routing, consignment, rate structure, and cost estimate of shipments according to priority, DOD, cost savings, and security factors; 2) Ensures most effective use of carriers, tenders, and standard route orders; 3) Produces notifications of assigned carriers as to equipment requirement, protection of shipments from weather, or specialist precautions against damage; 4) Arranges for special equipment such as cranes and intermodal shipments when needed for loading/unloading; 5) Determines most efficient and economical rates and routes for the movement of freight. *Note: Information must be supported in your resume* Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
