The Position Production Supervisor Job Summary IMERYS REFRACTORY MINERALS SALARIED JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title Production Supervisor Department/Location Production Reports to (Job Title) Plant Manager Direct Reports (Job Title) Job Summary The Production Supervisor will assist Plant Manager to ensure that all production functions at the site are operating at optimum conditions (throughput, efficiency, cost, etc.), providing operational support to personnel acting as a coach/teacher/resource to fully develop their potential. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Assist Plant Manager in managing day-to-day activities in the plant area. Maintain safe and productive workplace. Responsible for maintaining proper housekeeping standards/procedures across the plant site. Develop, train and assess all operations personnel in proper operating methodologies, troubleshooting and corrective action procedures. Assess problems areas in plant operations and develop/implement action plans to correct operational issues. Assist Plant Manager with management/development of plant operating budgets. Collaborate with Kiln & Mill Specialists to ensure production personnel are working effectively. Use Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to identify non-conforming product quality cause and develop solutions. Facilitate daily production meetings with plant operations/maintenance personnel to communicate/review daily production KPI's and maintenance requirements. Any other reasonable duties as may be deemed necessary by Plant Manager. Skills and Attributes Requirements Demonstrated commitment to Safety. Demonstrated logical problem solving and analytical skills in order to trouble shoot operational issues with kiln performance. Ability to work in high priority situations in both a team environment and as a self-directed individual. Ability to coach/train production personnel to improve overall plant operations. Must be able to work with a diverse set of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills and be self-motivated. Strong commitment to quality of products while achieving production budgets and costs. Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral Excellent organizational, and prioritization skills. Ability to stand firm on commitments and requirements of site management team along with the ability to elicit cooperation from site leadership and other departments. Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing and database software. Familiarity with ERP systems a plus. Education/Experience Requirements BS Degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Civil/Mineral Processing is preferred. Three to five years of field experience in production operations (refractory, cement, lime or similar) with direct supervisory experience is preferred. Competent with Microsoft Office programs. Experience using project management software such as Microsoft Project is a plus. Environment While performing the duties of this job; the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise, outside weather in all conditions and materials used in the process. Frequent walking, standing, and sitting with exposure to all seasonal climatic conditions. Occasionally lifting, carrying, and/or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Approximately 40% office environment and 60% plant environment.
