POSITION SUMMARY: To assist surgeons and registered nurses by performing routine, technical, and related duties during surgical operations. To provide safe and competent care to all patients in a variety of age groups and function effectively with a variety of patient physical and emotional disabilities. To be responsible for the daily cleaning and processing of equipment, providing for the between case turnover by removing, cleaning, and decontamination of equipment used by the team, and ensuring clean equipment for each procedure. Be the resource person for assigned specialty including, but not limited to, tray inventory, maintenance of specialty instruments, supplies, ordering of instruments and MD requests. EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal accredited Surgical Technology Program or military training required. Certification is required through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
