About the role

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to own and operate the day-to-day accounting function at TENEX as we scale. This role is foundational - you will be the first dedicated accounting hire, owning the close, ensuring the integrity of our books, and building the controls and processes that will support TENEX through its next stages of growth. Reporting to the Director of Finance / Operations, you will serve as a hands-on operator and trusted partner across the business - owning month-end close, AP/AR, cash management, technical accounting, and audit preparation. You will also play a key role in standing up scalable accounting processes from the ground up. This role is starting as an individual contributor with the expectation of building and leading a team over time. Core Responsibilities Financial Close Own and continuously improve the monthly and quarterly close process, including timelines, checklists, and reviewer cadence Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaid amortization, depreciation, and other recurring close activities Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reconciliation of all accounts Maintain and refine the chart of accounts to support scalable, audit-ready reporting Partner with FP&A to ensure alignment between accounting outputs and management reporting Revenue, AP/AR, & Cash Operations Own revenue recognition under ASC 606, including review of customer contracts and accounting for multi-year and service components Manage the order-to-cash cycle, including invoicing, billings, collections, aging management, and revenue reporting Build and maintain Salesforce-to-ERP workflows to streamline deal processing and bookings reporting Own accounts payable, including vendor onboarding, bill approval workflows, payments, and 1099 reporting Oversee treasury and cash management, including daily cash position, bank reconciliations, and cash forecasting in partnership with FP&A Compliance, Audit & Technical Accounting Manage sales and use tax compliance across applicable jurisdictions Lead preparation and execution of the annual financial statement audit Research and document technical accounting positions, including memos for revenue recognition, sales tax, and other complex transactions Establish and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to support a scalable, audit-ready environment Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state tax requirements, and other applicable regulations Systems, Process & Team Development Drive automation and AI-enabled workflows across accounting to improve efficiency, accuracy, and insight generation Establish best-in-class accounting processes, tools, and documentation to support a scaling organization Build and lead the accounting team over time, including hiring, mentoring, and developing team members Continuously improve financial infrastructure to support audit, fundraising, and ongoing business growth

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting or a related role, with significant time in SaaS, technology, or high-growth environments preferred
  • Proven experience owning the full month-end close process and general ledger in a high-growth company
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP, with hands-on experience applying ASC 606 to complex contracts
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based accounting platforms and modern ERPs (e.g., Quickbooks, Rillet, NetSuite, or equivalent)
  • Salesforce experience preferred, part
