Responsibilities

  • Secure Interior Design & Planning
  • Support the interior design of secure and classified environments , ensuring compliance with ICD ‑705, DoD standards, and client ‑specific requirements
  • Develop detailed interior design deliverables-including space plans, elevations, details, and specifications -that balance security, functionality, and design quality
  • Participate in and contribute to secure design reviews and client meetings
  • Technical Coordination & Integration
  • Collaborate with Accrediting Officials and project teams in support of Construction Surveillance Plans (CSPs)
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and specialty consultants to integrate access control, intrusion detection, acoustical protection, and RF shielding
  • Support technical planning related to acoustical separation, TEMPEST considerations, and secure zoning
  • Collaboration & Design Leadership
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate secure planning principles across architecture, interiors, engineering, and technology systems
  • Engage Federal clients and stakeholders to understand mission needs and translate them into compliant interior solutions
  • Contribute thought leadership that advances secure interior design standards across the firm

  • Solid familiarity with ICD ‑705 and TEMPEST fundamentals and their impact on interior planning

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited institution and 8+ years of related professional experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Master's degree in Interior Design or related field
  • 12+ years of interior design experience, including at least 3 years supporting secure Federal facilities
  • NCIDQ certification
  • Interior Design licensure
  • Sponsorship is not available , now or in the future
  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to Federal contract requirements

AECOM is seeking a Senior Secure Spaces Interior Designer to help shape highly secure, technically sophisticated environments for Federal and mission‑critical clients. In this role, you will focus on the planning and interior design of classified spaces where precision, compliance, and operational performance are essential. This position may be based in Denver, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, San Diego, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Seattle, Columbus, or Cleveland , with flexibility for other AECOM locations. You will play a key role in the design and delivery of classified interiors , including SCIFs, SAPFs, secure communications centers, and high ‑security workplace environments . As an emerging subject matter expert, you will also contribute specialized knowledge that strengthens AECOM's secure interiors practice.
