Responsibilities

The Department of Recruitment and College Connections is seeking a motivated, self-directed candidate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join our team as an Administrative Assistant I. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, kindness, professionalism, and teamwork. The ideal candidate for this position demonstrates attention to detail, follows instructions carefully, works well independently and takes pride in the quality of their work. This position serves in a highly visible capacity to include frequent interaction with students, parents, staff and faculty. The incumbent uses independent judgment to interpret and explain procedure, problem-solve with alternative courses of action to ensure conformance to college and state policy. Often assists in making recommendations on operational procedures to either effect change or to resolve conflict. Decisions executed can have an impact on the department and on prospective or current students. For example, the incumbent makes decisions on standardized techniques used when assisting staff personnel and students. The incumbent is also required to make decisions or judgments when assisting prospective or current students with inquiries and concerns. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Computer literacy to include a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of college and office procedures, recordkeeping methods, clerical accounting, campus rules and regulations and department procedures. Knowledge of current principles used in a complex department. Ability to carry out professional complex assignments independently, efficiently, and effectively. Ability to develop and deliver essential information (oral and written). Ability to read and understand manuals and other detailed written materials. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all college policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive college experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the college's commitment to a "Students First" mantra.
