About the role

Grade Level (for internal use): 09 The Role: Data Operations Associate, Custom Indexing. The Team: The Custom index team under the Index Management and Production Group, empower clients to achieve any strategy by bringing their investment ideas to life. We provide daily maintenance and calculation, corporate action management, index distribution, and constituent data via daily files. We are also responsible of client's rebalances, reconstitutions and screenings of their custom indices. Responsibilities and Impact: The impact: This role is looking for a finance and coding enthusiast. It is expected for the candidate to leverage coding skills to be able to improve velocity, reliability, and quality of data operations and analytics. Contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes and tools. Preparing and calculating client custom indices. This includes performing analytical research on companies to determine the composition of the index, adjusting data in our calculation system, and adjusting the data to conform to the rules of the index. Must ensure timely and accurate delivery of real-time and end-of-day index data to clients and end users. Maintain, update, and troubleshoot complex index models in excel on a daily basis. Provide customer service to existing custom index clients as it pertains to their indices. Quantitative analyses of index returns, weights, and constituents.

Requirements

  • Basic Required Qualifications:
  • Strong Math background and superior Excel/VBA skills along with Phyton coding knowledge is required to manage and manipulate large data sets while making processes automations.
  • Bachelor's Degree. Advanced degree in math, actuarial science, computer science strongly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of equity index math and concepts, equity markets, commodities pricing, bond, and derivatives calculations (options, futures, swaps, forwards, etc.)
  • 0 to 3 years of professional experience is required. Internships experiences are considered, and recent college graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities to solve original, non-routine problems in a timely and insightful manner.

  • Detail oriented with ability to consistently perform daily production tasks in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • CFA/FRM level 1 or 2 qualification would be a plus but not required.
  • Experience dealing with customers in a time-sensitive demanding environment where interpretation of data has both objective and subjective components requiring persuasion and influencing skills.
  • Must be able to work independently on multiple projects with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate work done by multiple people and / or groups.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, work with others and manage projects.
  • Ability to learn new data and calculation platforms in a limited time.
