Position Status: Part time Shift: Variable 12 hour shift (United States of America) Hours per week: 12 Job Information Exemption Status: Non-Exempt A Brief Overview The emergency department Advance Practice Provider (APP) provides advanced nursing and patient care in the acute care setting based on educational preparation and/or certification in the practitioner role to a specific patient population. Care goals include promotion of healing, and prevention of illness and recidivism. The (APP) assumes the management of patients, functioning in both an independent and collaborative role with the physician, case manager, and other members of the health care team. As a practitioner, they perform select procedures, designs individualized treatment plans, evaluates outcomes, and modifies the treatment plan as needed in accordance with established management protocols and regulating bodies. The (APP) facilitates the transition of patients between service units and provides/coordinates complex patients and family teaching. This position is required to work weekends, nights and holidays as warranted. The delivery of professional nursing care at Stormont Vail Health is guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the theory of Shared governance, both of which are congruent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Education Qualifications Master's prepared with national certification eligibility. Must be a graduate of an accredited PA/APRN program. Meets educational preparation or other qualifications within specified time frames as determined/outlined by specific department policy. Skills and Abilities All APRN incumbents are required to maintain Registered Nurse competencies as designated by Federal and State organizations and as outlined in SVH policy. (Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse - KSBN Must have valid APRN licensure. Be certified as a nurse practitioner by a recognized national certifying body that has established standards for nurse practitioners. Required or Physician Assistant (PA) - KSBHA Required Pediatric Advanced Life Support - PALS Required within 6 months of hire. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - ACLS Required within 6 months of hire. Advanced Trauma Life Support - ATLS Required within 1 year of hire. Additional certification may be required in certain patient care settings or populations. The department director will provide specific information and the time frame in which such certification may be attained at the time of hire/transfer into department.
