Job Description Summary The Flight Path Innovation Engineer will tackle the same core challenges facing both the global flight path design community and our navigation services team: delivering instrument procedures faster, more efficiently, and with greater value for all airspace users than today's solutions. In this role, you will help transform our design approach by integrating real-world aircraft and airspace performance data, leveraging GE's unique access to global surveillance data and over 55% of global flight data to more accurately model actual operating conditions and deliver demonstrably better outcomes. You will play a key role in defining and developing the next generation of tools and services that enable ANSPs to manage their existing procedure catalog more effectively while creating the capacity to deploy safer, more efficient procedures that work better for all airspace users. This role represents a new philosophy for the navigation services team: moving from a model driven primarily by individual airline needs to one that considers the broader requirements of the entire airspace system. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of instrument flight procedure design expertise, technical fluency, geospatial and navigation data experience, and customer-facing problem solving. This role will work closely with the Product Manager - Agentic Airspace Design and cross-functional software, AI, and domain teams to translate current-state workflow challenges into scalable tools, validated requirements, and practical human-in-the-loop solutions that improve safety, quality, efficiency, and long-term maintainability. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities The Flight Path Innovation Engineer will: Develop and maintain a working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards, and processes for instrument flight procedure development, including FAA, ICAO PANS-OPS, and state criteria as applicable. Design, evaluate, and review new and existing instrument flight procedures, ensuring compliance, safety, and operational suitability. Apply a strong understanding of aeronautical charts, topographic mapping, coordinate systems, terrain, obstacle, and navigation data in support of procedure and route design. Identify and prioritize opportunities to improve or automate flight path design tasks, including data ingestion, design validation, quality checks, and workflow efficiency. Partner with internal teams across engineering, product, digital/IT, data science, and AI to scope, pilot, validate, and deploy tools that support advanced procedure design, workflow modernization, and dynamic trajectory planning. Work closely with the Product Manager - Agentic Airspace Design to translate operational flight path design knowledge into product requirements, use cases, workflow definitions, prototype feedback, and feature validation criteria. Develop concepts and requirements for moving from static procedures in the AIP to more flexible, data-driven, and potentially dynamic trajectories aligned with emerging industry standards and operational needs. Engage with airlines, ANSPs, airports, regulators, and industry bodies to understand operational objectives, constraints, and future needs, and translate those inputs into actionable requirements for navigation services and flight path design solutions. Represent the business in technical and strategic discussions with customers and partners, helping shape industry thinking around advanced navigation concepts, dynamic trajectory management, and next-generation procedure development. Contribute to business strategy, road mapping, and investment cases for new tools, capabilities, and services, in coordination with product and business leadership. Manage multiple projects and priorities, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality instrument flight procedures, analyses, and navigation solutions. Provide technical leadership, documentation support, and mentoring to procedure designers and related engineering staff. Ensure all work adheres to applicable regulatory, safety, and quality standards and support continuous improvement of internal processes, design practices, standard work, and training materials. Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma / GED with significant relevant experience in engineering, surveying, geography, aviation, software-enabled aviation operations, or a closely related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of experience in flight path design, instrument procedure design, airspace design, air traffic management, or a closely related aviation domain. Demonstrated experience working with instrument flight procedures, airspace design, or navigation services in a regulated environment. Working knowledge of aeronautical charts, topographic mapping, coordinate systems, and related geospatial or navigation datasets. Experience with track, alignment, procedure design,
