About the role

SMITECH is seeking a Safety and Health Coordinator / Workplace Safety and Health Coordinator (WSHC) to support our M&E construction project team in maintaining safe site operations, identifying unsafe conditions and work practices, and assisting with the implementation of practical WSH control measures. This project role is to be based on site on a 5.5-day work week. SMITECH is an established M&E contractor involved in mega national projects with a rapidly growing presence across Singapore. We are actively expanding our operations and are inviting experienced, driven M&E and Civil engineering personnel to join our ranks for new and existing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager, WSHO and site team in implementing project WSH requirements, procedures and client safety standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and identify unsafe conditions, unsafe work practices and potential hazards.
  • Recommend and follow up on corrective and preventive actions to improve site safety performance.
  • Support risk assessments, method statements, permit-to-work coordination, toolbox meetings and safety briefings.
  • Maintain proper WSH records, inspection reports, incident reports, training records and safety documentation.
  • Assist in incident / near-miss reporting, investigation and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, subcontractors and workers to ensure safe execution of M&E site activities.
  • Promote WSH awareness and support a positive safety culture across the project site.

Requirements

  • Must possess WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health (Level B) , or equivalent qualification issued by a MOM / WSQ / WDA-accredited training organization.
  • At least two (2) years of post-registration / relevant practical WSH experience , preferably in construction, M&E, infrastructure or project site environments.
  • Familiar with Singapore WSH Act, WSH Construction Regulations, risk assessment, permit-to-work, incident reporting and site safety documentation.
  • Experience supporting M&E construction activities such as electrical works, mechanical installation, lifting, work-at-height, hot works and confined space work will be an advantage.
  • Able to conduct site inspections, prepare reports and follow up with project teams on safety actions.
  • Good communication skills and able to work closely with project teams, subcontractors and workers.
  • Proficient in basic Microsoft Office applications for WSH reporting and documentation.
  • Additional certifications such as BCSS / Supervise Construction Work for WSH, Work-at-Height, Confined Space or Lifting-related safety training will be an advantage.
