About the role

The Biomed Technician III is required to perform scheduled procedures, installation, inspection and calibration on all equipment that falls under the responsibility of the Clinical Engineering department. Perform corrective maintenance on all equipment that falls under the responsibility of the Clinical Engineering Department. Responsible for documenting the results of all inspections and repairs. Maintains compliance with JCAHO, Federal, State and local standards and regulations. Supports the mission, values and strategic aims of Cook Children's Health Care System. This associate is often required to act independently under stressful conditions. Education & Experience: Associates degree (AA) in Electronics Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, or military training equivalent. A minimum of 6 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment. Competency in the theory of operation, repair and maintenance of medical equipment. Knowledge of technical aspects of medical and electronic equipment and its operation, repair and maintenance. Knowledge of the application of PCs and servers and how they interface with medical equipment. Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology as applied to use of biomedical equipment. Ability to solve practical problems where only limited information exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and illustrated parts drawings of biomedical instrumentation. Ability to analyze, repair and test electronic equipment. Ability to maintain accurate records of repairs, calibrations and tests. Hours: Monday to Friday: (also on-call as well) Cook Children's is an equal opportunity employer.
