JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Technician Trainee Reports to: Branch Manager FLSA Status: Non-exempt Division: HPC Department: Service Locations: Guam POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of a Supervisor, the Technician Trainee supports Service Department operations. The Technician Trainee may, at times, perform unskilled or semiskilled duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Cleans equipment and parts with various pieces of cleaning equipment supplied by HPC. Keeps work areas clean and orderly. Assists skilled employees while supervising the removal and installation of components. Attends training classes as directed and obtains passing grades. Safety and housekeeping. Must be able to use a basic set of hand tools suitable for the use in the repair of heavy equipment. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Due to safety regulations and equipment operation requirements, candidates must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire. PC skills required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Walking: Moves about on foot, often through uneven terrain. Hands/arms: Operates equipment and hand and power tools. Handling: Seizes, helps, or works with hands. Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts and tools. Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction. Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist. Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job. Climbing: In and out of equipment. Raising/Lowering: Goes up and down in man lifts. Vision: Reads work tickets and parts and service books and operates heavy equipment. Talking: Communicates by radio, phone, and in person. Hearing: Hears well enough to discern mechanical problems for safety in and around shop and construction sites and to receive communication by radio, phone, and in person. Sitting: Sits in equipment and vehicles for extended periods. Laying: Lies in prone position under vehicles and equipment for extended periods. Lifting: Lifts up to 60lbs. daily, frequent exertion. ENVIRONMENTAL: Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise. Temp/Weather: Works in a service shop environment. Exposure: Subject to foul odors, fumes, and harsh substances.
