The Program Support Assistant (PSA) participates actively in the management of the administrative section of the Support Services Division (SSD) by performing administrative and technical support duties. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: GS-05 Grade Level: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level or higher. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Composes and types routine correspondence; receives, screens, and distributes all incoming material, handles routine correspondence personally with minimal instructions and coordinates routine administrative matters; and providing customer service to internal and external customers. OR Education Substitution: You may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4-year course of study above high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR GS-06 Grade Level: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or higher. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: providing administrative support; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; processing documents and reports; establishing, updating and maintaining office files and records; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; and providing information and customer service. Combining Education & Experience: If you do not fully meet the length of experience and education described for a specific grade level (e.g. have six months of experience and some coursework but not a degree), the two can be combined to total 100% of the requirement. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Full vs. Part-Time Employment: Full-time employment is considered to be at least 35 hours per week. Part-time experience will be credited on a pro-rated basis; when including part-time employment in your resume you must specify the average hours worked per week. Physical Requirements: Work requires some physical exertion such as extended periods of standing, frequent bending, reaching or similar activities necessary to set up, operate, adjust and monitor operation of the equipment.
