Job Description Geotechnical Engineer - Fugro Location: Wallingford, UK (site-based with travel across the UK & Europe) | Full-time - 40 hours per week At Fugro, we unlock insights from the Earth to build a safer and more sustainable world and we're looking for a passionate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. Based in the UK with frequent site work, this role places you at the heart of ground investigation projects that support critical infrastructure, energy, and environmental developments. Working closely with experienced Principal Engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality geotechnical data and insights that shape real-world decisions. This is a hands-on, dynamic position with a mix of field and office work, offering variety, development, and the chance to make a tangible impact. Your role and responsibilities: Carry out and support geotechnical site investigations, including logging soil and rock in line with industry standards and Fugro procedures Perform and process in-situ testing (e.g. CPT, HPD, packer testing) and contribute to accurate, high-quality data capture Produce field reports and deliverables, including AGS data, ensuring accuracy and timely submission Assist with laboratory testing programmes and apply results to support geotechnical interpretations Collaborate with project teams, field crews, and office-based engineers to ensure smooth project delivery Communicate effectively with clients and act as a professional Fugro representative on site Support reporting activities, including data analysis, ground modelling, and preparation of technical outputs What you'll need to thrive in this role: A degree (or equivalent) in Geotechnical Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline Prior experience in Geotechnical Engineering or Ground Investigation projects. Willingness and ability to travel regularly across the UK and Europe for site work Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a proactive and flexible approach Eligibility or interest in working towards professional membership (e.g. ICE, Geological Society) and a valid UK driving licence Please note: due to UK Visas and Immigration requirements, this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship .
