Explains testing procedures to patients and family members. Prepares patient and equipment for testing. Performs an accurate, interpretable EEG examination. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience: Six months patient care experience. Other Credentials: AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider Knowledge and Skills: Basic computer skills Special Training: Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Usual Work Day: 8 Hours Reporting Relationships Does this position formally supervise employees? No ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Verifies written order and testing protocol. Verifies the written order for testing protocol. Verifies written order and testing protocol. Educates patient and/or family members regarding testing procedures. Obtains a detailed patient history that includes all medications. Measures accurately the patient's head in accordance with the 10/20 international electrode placement system and applies all applicable electrodes required for testing. Obtains satisfactory electrode impedances prior to recording as evidenced by impedance measurement values displayed on EEG recording Prepares patient and equipment for testing. Calibrates equipment prior to testing. Participates in equipment care and maintenance with guidance. Performs an accurate, interpretable EEG examination. Performs accurately an interpretable routine, sleep or sleep deprived, portable, ambulatory or ECI electroencephalogram in accordance with department procedures under the supervision of a qualified Neurodiagnostic Technologist. Logs accurately and submits charges for all procedures performed, documents all relevant patient information in accordance with department procedures Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age-specific care in the treatment, assessment and education of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as evidenced by ability to complete all studies using appropriate age-specific criteria and patient and physician satisfaction. Participates in Long Term Monitoring for Epilepsy Program. Assists with patient connects, disconnects, and activations for the long term monitoring program. Assists with data review, stripping and reporting of both LTM and Ambulatory EEG studies as evidenced by LTM Daily Activity Log or Ambulatory Technician sheet, system databases, manager review and physician satisfaction.
