As a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor you will be responsible for providing support to the operational teams to ensure that all personnel working on behalf of Breedon do so in a safe and professional manner. More about what you will do... Work as part of the team to ensure our "Home Safe and Well" culture, embracing the ethos of a "one team" culture To ensure Breedon Group Ltd complies with the requirements of current safety legislation and approved codes of practice and guidance issued by the Health & Safety Authority. To ensure that all staff are provided with relevant information, instruction and training on safety, health, and welfare. Instil a positive Health and Safety culture within the team in their thinking and actions. Develop Site Specific Safety Statements, Construction Stage Safety & Health plans, Traffic management plans, review method statements, complete risk assessments and other necessary documentation to ensure the safety of our personnel Ensure that adequate consultation procedures exist with staff through regular safety meetings and discussions at regular intervals throughout the project. Consider and support when appropriate any representations on Health & Safety from staff or contractors. Ensure that all internal and external reporting requirements are complied with. Monitor and report on the collection, recording, analysis, implementation of actions taken and feedback provided to the hazards identified during the weekly inspection/audits through our online management system Conduct accident/incident investigations in a timely manner with the support of the team, making recommendations to management in respect of these. Obtaining and reviewing safety documentation from Clients, Suppliers and Subcontractors; Ensuring that subcontractors are made aware of the Company's Plan and the requirement for project specific RAMS before appointment Reviewing, revising and updating the Safety Statement in the light of subcontractors' information, the progress of work, the receipt of new design information and the occurrence of incidents or accidents. Implementing the Safety Statement and monitoring the compliance of Company personnel and subcontractors against the Plan Brings any safety, health or welfare issues to the attention of the Quarry Manager / Contract Supervisor for action prior to leaving site. Advises site management of the suitability and adequacy of safety and health provisions, safe working methods, safety of equipment and the validity of test certificates. Plans and holds safety inductions and briefings of Company and subcontractors' personnel The Safety Officer will be responsible for the maintenance of all safety documentation in conjunction with the site team. Ensure that all statutory examinations as set out in the appropriate statutory legislation are carried out and records maintained. Ensure that all new equipment, substances, and systems of work are properly assessed for any potential risks prior to their introduction. Co-ordinate and implement Health & Safety training programmes for staff. Ensure that Breedon staff and contractors are aware of the health and safety standards and requirements through discussion, training, regular updates and visits to the various worksites- including audits and site walks with relevant management. Other duties as required from time to time What we need from you... Minimum of a Level 7 or higher qualification in Health and Safety, preferably with experience in construction and / or quarrying. Must hold a full Irish driving licence and be willing to travel to other company sites Possess a good working knowledge of Health & Safety Law (Legal Requirements and ACoPs) Strong and proven ability to influence change and be a champion of best practice Excellent communication skills and attention to detail Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint), and a general competence in using new technologies (Mobile Apps etc) Some important information... 35 days per year annual leave (including bank holidays) A tailored, competitive salary Company pension scheme Life Assurance Scheme Holiday buy scheme 1 day per year to volunteer with a charity of your choice (fully paid!) and fund-matching up to 200 for charitab
