Position Title: Animation And Simulation Instructor of Technology Job Description: HINDS COMMUNITY COLLEGE Job Descriptions JOB TITLE: Instructor of Technology (Utica Campus) REPORTS TO: Dean of CTE DEPARTMENT: Title III & CTE Instruction EXEMPT: NO VICE PRESIDENT: Vice President of Career and Technical Education, Sponsored Grants, and HBCU Initiatives GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION All Hinds Community College employees must commit to the Caring Campus approach to student engagement and daily apply these general behavioral objectives: listen to student questions and concerns with a positive attitude and make meaningful connections with students. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS Provide instruction for all technology students at the Utica Campus; provide guidance and assist students in their entire learning experience, creating a curriculum, presenting all class information, and fostering collaboration between STEM and CTE faculty, students and the community; increases awareness in technology programs and pathways; formulate progressive recruiting and pedagogical strategies for successful matriculation and transfer. Understanding of and commitment to the comprehensive community college mission. Evidence of success of working with students, pre-college through higher education. Willingness to advise students. Knowledge of contemporary and innovative methods of instructional delivery and curriculum development including the use of technology for instructional delivery. Relevant industry work experience in a computer science field. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Associate's degree (AA) or Associates of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of two years of technology related experience is required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Be responsible for instruction, supervision, and assessment of students in the technology program track. Monitor, document, and assess student progress. Contribute to district curriculum development and continued faculty development. Challenge and prepare community college, technology students with global competencies and 21st century skills, for success in a Bachelor's Degree program upon graduation and transfer. Actively participate in recruiting opportunities to increase program enrollment. Teaches all classes and labs as assigned. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the subject. Communicates with students the goals, objectives, and expectations of the course. Assigns learning activities which promote understanding of the course content. Keeps accurate records of attendance and grades and submits all reports and other requested information promptly and accurately. Maintains discipline in the classroom. Attends faculty meetings and other required meetings as prescribed. Meets all classes promptly and regularly and begins and ends class on time. Participates actively in professional development opportunities in the discipline. Maintains required office and class hours. Serves as sponsor and advisor for student clubs and organizations as appropriate. Advises students with class schedules. Serves on college councils and committees as assigned. Effectively communicates with cooperates with and supports other personnel in daily activities. Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
