Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Regular Job Profile: Counselor Job Summary: Under the supervision of a Mental Health Leadership Team Member, the Mental Health Provider, Multilingual will provide mental health services in an integrated health care agency serving UW-Madison students across identities and programs. To this end, the Mental Health Provider performs the following: Principal Duties : 1) Provides individual and group therapy services 2) Participates in the provision of clinical crisis services and on-call mental health services (during business hours); 3) Provides campus-based services/outreach including programming and consultation; 4) Responds to campus crises; 5) Engages in caseload management consistent with short-term counseling to balance new and ongoing client needs; 6) Effectively provides clinical services aligned with best practices and ethical standards for individuals from diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences; Additional options for Direct Clinical Services may include: 1) Provides behavioral health interventions within Medical Services; 2) Provides couple/partner therapy services; 3) Provides supervision of assigned trainees including goal setting, evaluations, and disciplinary action in accordance with training policy and procedures; 4) Administers and interprets limited assessment measures. Administrative Duties: 1) Maintains accurate and timely documentation for all clinical interactions and consultations; 2) Involved in the development and implementation of programs and services at MHS; 3) Contributes to formal and informal consultation with UHS colleagues and campus partners, including regular attendance of peer consult space 4) Collaborates with providers and staff in UHS units and with campus partners; 5) Follows agency policies and procedures consistent with state mental health statutes, ethical guidelines, best practices, HIPAA, and FERPA; 6) Attends staff, and workgroup meetings as assigned; 7) Attends Mental Health sponsored professional development activities; 8) Engages in service through campus or community involvement based on organizational need, e.g. committee involvement, training/mentoring, delivering presentations, critical incident response; 9) Other duties as assigned There are licensure requirements for this role. Licensure, independent or in-training, will be confirmed to advance to the interview stage. The Wisconsin Board recognizes reciprocity for providers licensed or credentialed in another state. Each applicant is reviewed on an individual basis and generally accept candidates from states with substantially equivalent licensing standards. Other state/territory licenses must remain active until the Wisconsin credentialing process is complete. Key Job Responsibilities: Delivers crisis intervention, including regular on‑call shifts and additional on call coverage when needed Facilitates psycho-educational and process-oriented groups Provides individual and group counseling in Spanish Serves on multidisciplinary campus committees Prepares presentations and outreach activities and facilitates student adjustment and success programs to promote a healthy campus Provides counseling and/or information and referral services to faculty and staff Provides individual and group counseling to students struggling with developmental and/or personal mental health issues and refers students to appropriate community resources Provides translation of mental health documents Maintains accurate and timely clinical documentation Department: University Health Services, Mental Health Services At UHS our mission is to promote, protect, and improve student health and wellbeing.
