About the role
The Asia Non-Financial Risk (NFR) team provide 2nd Line oversights to the non-financial risk (including Operational Risk & Information Technology Risk) program for the Asia region. We are looking for someone to provide regional 2LoD oversight, challenge and governance of Technology, AI, Operational Resiliency and Data risks, including risk monitoring and reporting, across Wholesale Banking Asia, and to ensure that the 1LoD operates in accordance with internal policies and standards.
Responsibilities
- Governance & Advice
- Maintain the NFR framework and manage it as a basis for operational activities.
- Advise Senior Management and 1LoD NFR management functions on Non-Financial Risk framework matters.
- Advise and support 1LoD on Non-Financial Risk set-up, procedures and measures.
- Challenge, advise and help 1LoD in the field of Non-Financial Risk queries and the application of various Non-Financial Risk aspects within daily operations.
- Identify and monitor relevant developments in the field, both within and outside the organization, and incorporate findings in policy and procedures.
- Risk Identification & Risk Assessment
- Advice and challenge identified risks in conjunction with management and the 1LoD, with due regards for the interests of parties involved (bank, customer, third parties).
- Provide expert risk knowledge and guidance on the business process and non-financial risks in areas of expertise.
- Investigate risks and events, conduct desk research, research individual cases and make an analysis. Helps prioritize risks and perform assessments in conjunction with management.
- Risk Mitigation & Risk Awareness
- Guide and support 1LoD in the creation of an implementation risk mitigation plan.
- Communicate policy and guidelines to management and employees.
- Encourage risk awareness and a sense of responsibility among management and employees in relation to Non-Financial Risk.
- Advise and assist in the implementation of new and updated Non-Financial Risk policy, procedures, and measures.
- Point of contact for the reporting of and for queries relating to Non-Financial Risk events and issues.
- Monitoring and Reporting
- Check that the 1LoD is complying with Risk Appetite, and that Non-Financial Risks are being managed and escalated where necessary.
- Monitor progress in Risk Mitigation activities, create reports and feed back to management of the business unit, second line and Non-Financial Risk functional line.
- Challenge & advise risk scores in Non-Financial Risk Dashboard reports and participate in discussions with 1LoD and Non-Financial Risk functional line.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years' relevant experience in banking, financial institutions, or Big 4 firms serving banking and FI clients.
- Degree or above with major in business, finance, or technology.
- Professional IT Risk Certification (e.g. ISACA CISA, CRISC, CISM, ISC2 CISSP, etc.).
- A robust background in IT controls, combined with a thorough understanding of banking IT operations, control frameworks, processes, and applicable regulations.
- Networking expertise, including cloud and security technologies.
- Proactive, independent, analytical self-starter.
- Excellent presentation and influencing skills; able to collaborate across diverse levels and backgrounds.
- Adopts a proactive and solution-focused strategy in risk management.
- Exhibits responsibility and takes ownership for actions and outcomes.
- Possesses strong abilities in writing and reporting, demonstrating sharp attention to detail, clear communication, and a focus on making an impact.
