As the Senior Environmental Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting our Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team to deliver best-in-class sustainability and compliance practices. You'll manage day-to-day environmental programs, partner with operations leaders, and ensure the organization maintains seamless compliance while helping us drive initiatives that reduce our environmental footprint and meet MFT's evolving needs. This position will report to the EHS Manager. This role offers exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our sustainability success. A critical responsibility of this role is to achieve and maintain full legal compliance with environmental government departments and regulatory agencies, ensuring that all operations align with national and international standards, and managing risks associated with water, air, soil, and waste. This role combines regulatory compliance, technological innovation, and strategic leadership to ensure safe and sustainable operations. This role is subject to our on-site work model: we collaborate in the Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico Campus from Monday thru Friday in office regular hours. Main Responsibilities - Define and implement sustainability strategies (emissions, energy, water, and waste reduction) per plant in collaboration with the Leadership Team - Ensure compliance with environmental and energy legal requirements, including permits, reports, and operational conditions. - Guarantee compliance with federal, state, and municipal regulations aligned with international best practices. - Support inspections, visits, and audits from environmental government authorities (Federal, State and City). - Develop and implement internal audit systems focused on environment and sustainability. - Ensure compliance with international standards such as ISO 14001, Clean Industry. - Coordinate environmental and energy training programs with local HR. - Monitor and report environmental KPIs (waste, water, energy consumption, and compliance). - Identify environmental impacts, risks, and opportunities to drive continuous improvement initiatives. - Implement technical and administrative controls, including environmental emergency response systems. - Execute sustainability projects from CAPEX request through full implementation Position Requirements Bachelor's Degree: Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field (Master's desired)

Requirements

  • 5+ years in environmental, sustainability, or energy roles
  • Experience in manufacturing environments
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 implementation
  • Technical Competences:
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001
  • Expertise in environmental regulations (federal and state)
  • Knowledge in water, energy, waste, emissions, and environmental risk management
  • Language:
  • English (proficient)
  • Certifications:
  • ISO 14001 Lead Auditor (Desired)
  • ISO 50001 Auditor (preferred)
