About the role
The Pharmacy Supply Chain Spec obtains services at lowest cost consistent with approved quality and delivery standards. Prepares the appropriate acquisition instrument, consistent with Grady Health System Policies, for the procurement of goods and services. Ensures all actions initiated and exercised will be in accordance with sound Business practice. Recommends improvements in over-all purchasing program which will advance the objectives of the hospital. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Assures replenishment stock orders transmitted to drug wholesaler from dispensing sites. Assists with and at times facilities the preparation of Request for Proposal (RFPs). Leads RFP process including facilitating technical review team and contract award recommendation as assigned. Reviews orders to ensure selection of most cost effective drug option and appropriate quantities for purchase; determines alternative products when primary product is not available. Arranges for shipment from other wholesaler divisions when necessary to assure product availability Inputs and processes return drug authorizations. Prepares and submits orders to drug wholesaler in accordance with 340B split software vendor. Works on procurement issues as assigned. Creates purchase orders, performs item maintenance and reconciles receiving documents in PeopleSoft. Manages purchase orders to specialty pharmacy compounders (Stacy's, Pharmedia) and REM specialty pharmacies. Reconciles purchase orders with Accounts Payable (AP) to assure timely payment.
Requirements
- Required: Associate Degree or above in business, finance, supply chain or healthcare related field.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, supply chain or health care related field.
- Required: Three (3) or more years experience in pharmacy, supply chain or health care.
- Preferred: Hospital and/or Health System pharmacy procurement experience including 340B program .
- Registered pharmacy technician with Georgia Board of Pharmacy; proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
