The New York City Police Department strives to foster a safe and fair city through the strategic deployment of resources, focusing on both crime prevention and addressing quality-of-life concerns while building lasting community relationships. The Civilian Development Unit (CDU) provides department-wide training for civilian and uniformed members, supporting operational readiness, professional standards, and development. Training includes entry-level programs for new civilian hires: Police Administrative Aide (PAA); School Crossing Guard (SCG); Evidence and Property Control Specialist (EPCS); and Police Attendant (PA). Training also includes recurring in-service courses such as Roll Call Training and School Crossing Guard refresher training, and Introduction to Supervision promotional training to build leadership skills and prepare personnel for supervisory roles. The Associate Staff Analyst will assist with the supervision and overseeing the staff of the Civilian Development Unit. In addition, this individual will be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of training courses offered by the Civilian Development Unit. This includes the monitoring of course objectives, lesson plans, lectures, exercises, and other materials developed by the unit. This individual will also be responsible for the design of procedural handbooks and manuals; research and create statistical reports; design and implement systems for evaluating the effectiveness of training initiatives and represent the unit in high-level meetings.
