About the role

Our Port Melbourne site is not only the home of Vegemite it is also the home of other Australian iconic products, such as Bega Peanut Butter, Bega Simply Nuts, Zoosh and Cream Cheese. VEGEMITE has been proudly made in Port Melbourne, Australia since 1923. The chemistry section at the Port Melbourne site functions as a quality and product release laboratory. The laboratory was established in December 2020 and continues to expand its range of offered tests for Bega products across Australia. We are looking for a driven and fantastic experience Laboratory Technician to join our technician's team and impact our day-to-day dairy products testing, samples, and analysis to meet Bega's high standards. Previous experience working in a fast-paced lab is essential , as well as experience with HPLC and HPLC sample preparation. What more could you ask for? This role works Monday to Friday, Permanent full time based on site in Port Melbourne with flexible start and finish times.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine analysis using instrumentation (HPLC and UPLC) and wet chemistry techniques.
• Performing reagent preparation and equipment maintenance/internal calibration verification check as per laboratory schedule.
• Preparation and maintenance of SOP's and validation reports.
• Participate in problem-solving routines and maintain work area. High Attention to detail is extremely crucial.
• Assist in the continuing expansion of analytical testing at the Port Melbourne site by carrying out method development and validation
• About you
• Minimum five years of experience in chemistry laboratory on HPLC instrumentation, preferably in food composition analyses and able to perform validation and implementation of test methods such as Water- and Fat-Soluble Vitamins
• Experience with HPLC and HPLC sample preparation is essential
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Excel and Word.
• Ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
