Job Description 1. Job Overview Overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of injection molding tools and ensuring the efficient operation of the tooling department. Accountabilities Follow all established safety procedures in plant. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, production, and safety of tooling techs. Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of injection molding tools, ensuring they meet quality standards and production requirements. Collaborate with the production teams to optimize tool designs and manufacturing processes. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for tooling to minimize downtime and extend tool life. Troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues to ensure smooth production operations. Monitor and manage tooling inventory, ensuring adequate supplies and timely procurement of materials. 4. Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities Responsible for leading and managing tooling techs, provide guidance, training and support to ensure high performance and professional development. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies within the tooling department. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. 5 . Qualifications/Requirements 5.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience High school education / GED equivalent. Minimum 5 years' experience in injection molding maintenance. 5.2 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours Must be a Certified Journeyman Tool Maker or willing to complete an apprenticeship program. Understanding of SQF policies and requirements. 6. Physical Requirements Hearing sufficiently to recognize and respond to shouted warnings, alarms, and horns on forklifts. Able to occasionally climb ladders safely and without assistance. Able to work at heights with fall protection when required. Verbal communication is adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other co-workers in other areas of the complex. Effectively manipulation of tools/parts. Work overhead or in awkward positions on a frequent basis. Push/pull loads of approx. 75 lbs. at a minimum of 10 times per day/shift. Stand/walk for up to 12-hour shift. Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation.
