The Community Health Organizer performs administrative duties, community engagement activities, curriculum training and implementation for the Texas A&M Opioid Prevention for K-12 Students (TOPS) program. Locations Hiring: Tyler, TX Austin, TX San Angelo, TX Amarillo, TX Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Four years of public/community/external relations, event planning, or related experience A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess Certified Community Health Worker (CHW) and/or Community Health Worker Instructor (CHWI). Experience providing CHW training sessions. Master's degree in public health, health, or other related field. Experience in public/community/external relations or event planning. Experience working within a State of Texas-certified Community Health Worker (CHW) training program/site Education in public health, community health, health education, or similar. Fluent in English and Spanish (written and oral) Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Utilizes sound judgment. Other Requirements Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines. This position is security sensitive. This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures. All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements. This position may require up to 50% or more travel. This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance, including completion of grant deliverables in respective area of the state. Opportunities to Contribute Program Coordination & Stakeholder Relationship Management Serves as a liaison between community and school decision-makers to build capacity. Coordinates cultivation and engagement events with high schools, middle schools, and community key decision-makers to ensure TOPS program success, including program planning, implementation, and evaluation of health programs. Engages with school and community key decision-makers to plan, develop, and implement opioid prevention awareness and education programs. Mobilizes and engages key decision-makers in the delivery of TOPS project activities. Works with the Area Team to expand area knowledge and understanding of youth opioid prevention community resources and service programs across a multiple-county service area. Collaborate with the Area Team on logistical support to plan community events, including scheduling, room setup, technical support, catering services, and ensuring a seamless transition from inception to post-event activities. Provides culturally appropriate support and information on opioid prevention awareness and education. Attends routine TOPS program meetings and required training sessions. Assists in establishing short- and long-term goals and strategic planning. Works with the Area Team on cultivation and engagement events with high schools and key decision-makers to ensure program milestones are achieved. Conducts site visits across area counties to monitor TOPS activities and provide ongoing support to community and school partners.
