How You Will Contribute: Act as the design authority for products in manufacture, providing support for failure analysis and development for Ciena and contract manufacturer engineers. Collaborate with R&D and Operations teams to define production requirements and specifications for processes and tests. Develop and maintain process and assembly tools in manufacturing, driving continuous improvements in design for manufacturability (DFM). Review and update PFMEA to ensure product reliability and quality. Lead training programs for contract manufacturer operators and engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer and operational excellence. Manage product lifecycle from launch to mass production, tracking yields and implementing cost reduction plans through BOM management. Work with Test Engineering to create automated analysis tools and key performance indicators (KPIs) for product performance monitoring. Develop packaging materials for products and establish recycling programs to align with sustainability goals. The Must Haves: Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and 5+ years of experience in designing, manufacturing, or testing optoelectronic products. Solid understanding of optical device principles, including lasers, modulators, detectors, optical sub-assemblies, and transceivers. Expertise in production processes for optoelectronic device manufacturing. Proven track record in product lifecycle management and launching complex optoelectronic module products to market. Strong problem-solving skills, capable of resolving technical issues in high-pressure environments locally and remotely. Experience working in a global marketplace with multi-functional, multi-locational teams, demonstrating excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in computer and analytical tools, including database management and data analysis. Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%, primarily within North America and Asia, to support product transfer and manufacturing.
