Description of Work This position serves as the Maintenance Supervisor for the Department of Environmental Quality under the Division of Facilities Health & Safety. It is a working supervisory role responsible for supervisory, administrative, and hands-on work managing corrective and preventative maintenance for several Department of Environmental Quality sites including the Reedy Creek Campus, Green Square office complex, and Archdale building as well as property management support at regional sites across the State. Other Key Responsibilities: Participates in the maintenance, repair, and minor renovation work to buildings, equipment, and utility systems administering industry standard construction, maintenance, and repair practices. Makes final technical decision in a variety of trades, maintaining stock control procedures for tools, parts, and supplies as well as advising management concerning the technical aspects of maintaining, replacing, or renovating equipment and facilities. Manages DEQ Facilities Work Order System and Preventative Maintenance Program. Coordinating and scheduling corrective and preventative maintenance with outside vendors, managing vendor repairs, and overseeing vendor contracts. Supervision of maintenance, construction and administrative staff. Managing and participating in an after-hours on-call schedule. The work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet emergency and business needs. This position is physically located in Raleigh, North Carolina. The DEQ Facilities, Health and Safety: The DEQ Facilities, Health and Safety division oversees and manages routine and non-routine construction, maintenance, repair to all DEQ sites and locations. FH&S staff provide support throughout the agency and are involved in the oversight of capital improvement projects that require budget oversight, bid evaluation and construction through project completion. DEQ's site locations include but are not limited to general property management for major buildings in Raleigh, such as the Green Square office complex, Archdale building, the Reedy Creek Road Laboratory and office complex, and coastal facilities used by the divisions of Coastal Management and Marine Fisheries. The division manages real property leases, sub-leases, facility related contracts, DOTS tickets, office relocations, Motor Fleet and agency owned vehicles, boats, motors, trailers, planes, drones, mobile devices, security, parking, and insurance policies. FHS is responsible for all aspects of the agency's capital project planning and general management, central safety program, and the NC Stewardship Program responsible for monitoring and management of over 500 conservation easements and properties held by DEQ for stream and wetland mitigation.
