This is a seconded position, meaning the selected candidate will be employed by ITAC but work full-time on assignment with one of our clients. While day-to-day responsibilities will be managed on-site with the client, ITAC provides ongoing support, resources, and benefits as your employer. This position is full-time contract work anticipated to last through the end of 2026 and will require the employee work at the client's Newport News, VA site. Overview The Technical Writer position will develop, maintain, validate, and improve technical documentation that supports engineering, manufacturing, operations, maintenance, and program execution activities. This role will work closely with subject matter experts, engineers, project teams, and stakeholders to translate complex technical information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation. Additionally, the Technical Writer will conduct procedure walkdowns in production, manufacturing, and operational environments to validate technical content, ensure procedural accuracy, and identify opportunities for process improvement. Responsibilities Conceptualize, develop, and maintain a wide range of complex technical documentation, including equipment manuals, operating procedures, process descriptions, maintenance guides, work instructions, material lists, and training materials. Conduct procedure walkdowns and field validations to observe work processes, verify procedural accuracy, and ensure documentation accurately reflects current operational practices. Partner with craft personnel, engineers, supervisors, and subject matter experts during walkdowns to capture process details, identify documentation gaps, and incorporate recommended updates. Review draft and existing documentation to identify opportunities for improvement and provide recommendations to enhance clarity, consistency, accuracy, and usability. Collaborate with engineers, technical specialists, program teams, and other stakeholders to gather technical information and ensure documentation reflects current processes, systems, and requirements. Organize, analyze, and interpret technical data from multiple sources to create comprehensive and effective documentation products. Ensure all documentation complies with applicable company standards, regulatory requirements, quality assurance guidelines, and formatting conventions. Conduct document reviews, proofreading, and quality checks to verify technical accuracy and completeness. Support document configuration management processes, including version control, tracking revisions, and maintaining document repositories. Assist with the development and standardization of documentation templates, style guides, and process documentation practices. Participate in meetings, project reviews, and technical discussions to capture requirements and document changes. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery of documentation supporting project milestones and operational objectives. Maintain documentation records and archives in accordance with company policies and program requirements.
