About the role

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE & EMERGENCY SERVICES DIVISION of NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY PORTSMOUTH NSY. For outside applicants claiming VEOA (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service) must meet specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1. Assisting with managing or directing fire department operations involving structural, shipboard, and crash/rescue; 2. Providing assistance, advice, and recommendations concerning fire protection/prevention; 3. Assisting with preparation of budget submittals for fire and emergency services; 4) Reviewing reports, records, codes, and procedures to make suggestions on improvements to firefighting techniques and /or policies. Current Permanent Employees within DoD must meet specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. This position requires possession of the following certifications: 1) Firefighter I; 2) Firefighter II; 3) HazMat Awareness; 4) HazMat Operations; 5) HazMat Incident Commander; 6) Driver Operator Pumper; 7) Fire Officer I; 8) Fire Officer II; 9) Fire Officer III; 10) Fire Inspector I; 11) Fire Inspector II; 12) Fire Instructor I; 13) Fire Instructor II; These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, NREMT, IFSAC or Proboard to meet the requirements. NREMT and CPR required.
