Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations for Japanese food product distribution in Singapore.
  • Coordinate sales, procurement, logistics, inventory, customer service and delivery planning.

  • Monitor sales performance, customer accounts, product margins, stock levels and operational costs.
  • Handle customer complaints, supplier issues, product shortages, cargo delays and delivery problems.
  • Train and supervise staff to ensure accurate order handling, product knowledge, food safety awareness and service standards.
  • Prepare internal reports for management, including sales updates, operational issues, supplier matters and customer development progress.
  • Support the Managing Director and directors in implementing business plans and improving operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Degree in Marine Science, business, food distribution, supply chain, logistics, hospitality, international trade or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in food distribution, Japanese food trading, restaurant supply, seafood supply, import/export, logistics or related industries.
  • The ability to speak Japanese fluently due to the need for daily communication with the Japanese fish market supplier.
  • The ability to read Japanese due to the need to send a purchase order and receive the supplier invoice in Japanese.
  • Experience managing sales, procurement, logistics coordination, customer accounts or operations teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Japanese food products, including fresh seafood, frozen seafood, wagyu beef and Japanese ingredients.
  • Understanding of cold-chain handling, perishable food products, airfreight shipments and time-sensitive delivery operations.
  • Business-level Japanese language proficiency is required to liaise with Japan-based suppliers, exporters and business partners on product, shipment and quality matters.
  • Business-level English proficiency is required for communication with local staff, customers and business partners in Singapore.
  • Able to work irregular hours, including night shifts, early mornings, weekends and public holidays when required.
  • Hands-on attitude and willingness to support operational tasks, including stock checking, order coordination, cargo follow-up and delivery support when necessary.
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced, fresh food distribution environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Singapore restaurant supply, food import, food safety or logistics operations will be an advantage.
  • Salary Range:
  • S$8,300.00 per month, depending on experience, qualifications and suitability.

  • This is not a purely office-based management role. The candidate must be comfortable working closely with operations, warehouse, logistics, suppliers, and customers, including during night and early-morning operational periods.
