Job Summary Synechron is seeking a highly experienced QA Engineer specializing in Cards & Payments systems to lead quality assurance activities for ATM and POS environments. Software Requirements Required Software Proficiency: JIRA, ALM, or similar test management tools - for tracking requirements and defect management Postman, SOAPUI, Specmatic - for API testing and validation of messaging protocols Playwright, LeanFT, WinAppDriver, or similar - automation frameworks supporting testing across ATM/POS messaging and interfaces Java, .NET, or C++ - scripting and automation support (preferred) Oracle, SQL - database querying for data validation and reconciliation Version control systems: Git, Bitbucket - for source code and test artifact management Preferred Software Skills: CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Azure DevOps - automation and deployment pipelines support Certification tools: Scheme simulators such as MDFS, VTS, UnionPay, UL Brand Test Tool - for certification testing support Test data management and schema validation tools supporting ISO 8583, ISO 20022, and AS2805 standards Overall Responsibilities Lead comprehensive testing and certification of ATM, POS, and card payment systems, ensuring adherence to scheme rules (Visa, Mastercard) and compliance standards Develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases for functional, integration, and certification testing phases Support system upgrades, migrations, and certification processes supporting regulatory and operational requirements Conduct root-cause analysis, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate defect resolution efforts Collaborate with product, development, and infrastructure teams to optimize test coverage and system stability Support performance testing, security assessments, and compliance verifications supporting industry standards Maintain detailed documentation for test plans, test cases, defect logs, and certification reports Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives, including automation, process standardization, and best practice adoption Technical Skills (By Category) Languages & Testing Frameworks (Essential): Java, .NET, or C++ - for scripting, automation, and support of messaging/system testing API testing tools: Postman, SOAPUI, Specmatic - for validation of messaging interfaces and external integrations Automation: Playwright, LeanFT, WinAppDriver - for scripting UI, messaging, and end-to-end automation Databases & Data Management: Oracle, SQL, or similar - query writing for data validation related to transaction processing Messaging & Protocols: ISO 8583, ISO 20022, AS2805 - schema validation, message content verification, and protocol compliance Test Environment & Tools: Understanding of ATM/POS messaging systems like Base24, FINSIM, EFTSIM, and certification tools such as VTS, UL Brand Test Tool Environment & Middleware: Knowledge of ATM ecosystems, payment switches, scheme rule validation, and related messaging standards Experience Requirements 7+ years of QA experience within Cards & Payments domains, supporting ATM/POS certification and compliance activities Proven expertise in designing and executing functional, regression, and certification test plans for financial transaction systems Extensive experience in testing messaging protocols (ISO 8583, ISO 20022, AS2805), scheme certification, and ATM/POS devices Ability to lead QA activities, coordinate with offshore teams, and ensure high-quality delivery in regulated environments Background supporting scheme certifications (Visa, Mastercard) and systems like Diebold Nixdorf, FIS, or similar is preferred Day-to-Day Activities Develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test scripts for ATM/POS and payment messaging systems Validate transaction flows, messaging protocols, and scheme compliance through functional and certification testing Lead certification testing activities, including documentation and scheme approval processes Troubleshoot system and messaging failures, support incident management, and perform root-cause analysis Collaborate with product, development, and infrastructure teams to improve test coverage and system reliability Conduct security assessments and compliance verification aligned with industry standards based on testing outputs Maintain detailed documentation on test cases, test results, certification logs, and operational procedures Support pre-certification, post-certification, and system readiness activities for payment platforms
