About the role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), Security Management Division's Security Services Branch, located in the following: Artesia, NM Glynco, GA. Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified using this vacancy announcement. Experience GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Assisting in the issuance, control, and accountability of official badges and credentials, including maintaining secure inventory records and ensuring compliance with agency policies and federal regulations. Conducting initial vetting and suitability reviews of applicants for badges, credentials, and Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA) Identification Cards by analyzing personnel data and records. Preparing written correspondence, analytical reports, spreadsheets, and briefings on badge and credential issuance, inventory, and program compliance for management review. Providing technical guidance and customer service to personnel regarding badge and credential procedures, including processing waiver requests and responding to inquiries. Utilize Firearms, Armor, and Credentials Tracking System (FACTS) inventory and asset management program to process and record all requests for Badge and Credentials. Experience GS-12: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Conducting advanced vetting and suitability reviews of employees and applicants for badges, credentials, and LEOSA Identification Cards, including analyzing personnel and disciplinary records to ensure eligibility and compliance. Developing, interpreting, and implementing Badge and Credentialing Program policies and procedures, and providing authoritative guidance to senior management and field offices. Performing complex analyses of badge and credential issuance, inventory, and program data, and preparing detailed reports and recommendations to improve operational effectiveness and policy compliance. Leading or participating in contract administration activities, including drafting Statements of Work, preparing cost estimates, and evaluating contractor proposals for badge and credentialing systems. Designing and delivering training and briefings for personnel and badge coordinators on badge and credentialing processes, compliance requirements, and program updates NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process by 05/13/2026.
