R&D Technologist (Technical & Quality)

About the role

App / Tech Functions: 1) Solve product challenges with a clear definition of objectives, testing protocols and expectation of outcomes. Maintain accurate, complete records ofexperiments in reports, as well as samples of raw materials to inventory andother ad-hoc duties. 2) Manage technical projects to explore, scope and develop new formulations and applications for use in either food, pharmaceutical, personal care/cosmetics &technical industries. 3) Build relevant formulation & application knowledge on the use of emulsifiers (eg. sucrose esters in novel product formats and hands-onproduction of Formulations & Emulsions. 4) Hands on sourcing & procuring of raw materials and build up applications intelligence with various ingredients and additives and manage equipment andmaintenance. 5) Hands on lab experiments to scaling up for R&D product development and processes. 6) Some awareness in halal and kosher certification requirements, audit documentation, and regulatory compliance. Knowledge of MUIS halal standards and Bahasa Melayu communication skills are advantageous due to stakeholder engagement requirements. 7) Support all technical and quality process in the QA lab during the periodic production shifts & schedules opening to a wider scale of learnings thatcan include internship management and other ad-hoc activities. Knowledge, Skills and Requirements: 1) Minimum a diploma and/or degree from a Science background, preference from a chemistry background and some emulsions experience will be a big plus. 2) Highly familiar with food ingredients and experience in formulations of ingredients, additives, premixes and emulsions, can also apply. At least some experience in application related to flavor / color / bioactive ingredients. 3) Strong in IT skills like Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Access. Having web design / maintenance skills will be a big plus, however, not essential forthe role. 4) Will require interactions with internal and external facing and at least bilingual in spoken and written in English, Mandarin, Bahasa and/or another language and a strong drive and self-motivation and ability to learn in a fast paceworking environment.
