Reporting to the Vice President and Office Leader, Consulting, Ottawa, the Benefits Analyst will provide group benefits consulting support, including design and financial management for existing medium and large clients and prospects of the Coughlin Ottawa Benefit Solutions accounts. The Benefits Analyst will work closely with internal teams, interface with vendors, support client deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met. The Benefits Analyst will: Support the Consulting team in the management of client accounts through service delivery, financial reporting and reconciliations, documentation, plan design pricing strategies, trends analysis, renewal reporting & analysis, marketing, investment reports, benchmarking and any other ad hoc reporting needs that may arise from time to time. Represent and advocate for the needs of the client across the organization and with vendor partners as needed. Implement strategies and activities to support client satisfaction and retention at the direction of the Consulting team. Maintain positive relations with clients, including key decision makers and administrators as required. Prepare and deliver activity and service reports to Consulting team as needed. Identify creative opportunities for growth within client block and pass them along to the Consulting team. Participate in continuing education to maintain a high level of knowledge of employee benefit legislation, administrative issues, plan rules, claim management and client specific procedures. Participate in industry conferences, seminars, etc. in order to promote services and keep abreast of industry trends and activities. Represent Coughlin & Associates and People Corporation in the market and be a successful brand ambassador. Maintain an expert knowledge of the complete line of People Corporation products and services. Foster and develop positive supplier relations to enable a positive working relationship with those suppliers. Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, shared services, practice areas, etc. across the organization. Role encompasses both Pension plans and Health & Welfare plans To be successful as a Benefits Analyst with Coughlin & Associates, you will need: Minimum 2 years experience in group benefits Knowledge of Canadian benefits industry and group benefits financial underwriting requirements for all types of employee benefits plans Strong analytical skills and advanced competency with Microsoft Excel Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook GBA/RPA/CEBS designation or willingness to obtain is considered an asset A positive attitude and strong team player who works well with internal and external stakeholder Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy Ability to manage and prioritize competing tasks in order to meet client and company needs Ability to work independently and in a team environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Bilingual (French & English) proficiency is considered an asset
