About the role

Anduril is fielding the next generation of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) to tackle the extremely challenging industry demands of seabed exploration. Anduril has brought to the market a unique, ultra-long-range, full-ocean-depth platform, and a completely refreshed maritime vehicle and flexible manufacturing architecture that scales from "large" to "extra-large" vehicle sizes. Today, Anduril is executing on multi-million-dollar contracts while simultaneously performing Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) AUV operations. As our Maritime team continues to quickly grow, we are looking for motivated candidates that are inspired to work within an extremely energetic, creative, and innovative team that is passionate about subsea robotics and exploring the open ocean. We are looking for a Senior Product Sourcing Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Quonset Point, RI. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the strategic supply network development and cost management of Anduril's product hardware, across their lifecycles, by collaborating with suppliers and cross-functionally, including stakeholders in engineering, quality, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct supplier selection for a specific product, leveraging approved supplier list.
  • Partner with strategic suppliers to accelerate product development via activities such as:
  • Concept scoping to quickly solidify requirements
  • Feature trade-off / trade tables
  • Total Cost of Ownership modeling
  • Joint design development, via clear statements of work
  • Simulation of mechanical & electronics designs
  • Drive commercial
  • Development and execution of sourcing strategy via full market knowledge, supplier rationalization, commodity pricing plan and effective principles to drive efficiency and cost
  • Drive the development and consolidation of a manufacturing BOM, working with Quality & Manufacturing, to ramp production internally and with our suppliers with high flexibility
  • Accountable for all NPI component procurement, on-time and correctly, to scale up manufacturing operations
  • Manage the request for and associated verification of supplier related CAPEX throughout NPI
  • Conduct value-stream mapping to optimize supply network lead time and flexibility
  • Complete the BOM risk assessment and develop plan per part analysis
  • Follow through completion of component qualifications by relevant stakeholders, ahead of production need dates
  • Reduce complexity of supply chain through commonality optimization & component/supplier rationalisation
  • Lead all cost engineering activities to converge the bottoms-up cost curve to product cost, maximizing the total cost of ownership (TCO) across the product lifecycle
  • Manage ad-hoc cost issues e.g., tariffs / import export cost, and cost inflation
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (BSME, BSEE) or other related technical degree.
  • Ideally has background within:
  • Design & development of mechanical and/or electronics devices
  • Advanced sourcing activities, including positions working as a commodity/sourcing manager
  • Supplier development (technology, process, supply chain, etc.)
  • Early supplier engagement, ahead of product/engineering requirement realization
  • Domain expertise must include value/procurement engineering or TCO-related work at the component & product level
  • Familiarity with developing high-tech products in a high-mix, low-volume environment
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
  • US Salary Range
  • $126,000 - $167,000 USD
