Requirements
- Required Education and Experience
- License Requirement
- License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or eligibility for certification.
- Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in oncology nursing, medical-surgical nursing, or critical care; or
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting; or
- Associate's degree in Nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience in oncology nursing, medical-surgical nursing, or critical care; or
- Associate's degree in Nursing and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting.
- NOTES:
- Incumbents must obtain and maintain applicable certification, as required by area of specialty and outlined in Departmental procedures, within thirty (30) months of appointment to this position and as a condition of continued employment.
- As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
- Incumbents must complete twelve (12) cancer-related contact hours per calendar year unless certified by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC).
- Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
