About the role

This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing Alternative Investment Fund Manager ("AIFM"), reporting to the Conducting Officer of Portfolio Management. Ares Management Luxembourg ("AMLux"), a regulated AIFM, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our portfolio management oversight team and assist the Conducting Officer(s) in ongoing oversight of the portfolio managers of the funds under its management, in accordance with the portfolio management oversight procedures and regulatory requirements. This involves monitoring the investment process, tracking individual deals and the portfolios, as well as reporting and escalation. AMLux is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ares Management LLC which was founded in 1997 to pursue investment activities in leveraged loans, high yield bonds, private debt, private equity and other types of investments. Ares currently operates in Europe across multiple business lines with investment activities managed by dedicated teams. Primary Functions and Essential Responsibilities: Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Be part of rapidly growing AIFM, reporting to the Conducting Officer for Portfolio Management Support the Conducting Officer to carry out ongoing monitoring of the delegated portfolio managers for funds under management of the AIFM Liaison with Group portfolio management teams for specific asset classes to attend meetings, receive reporting and ensure escalation and follow up Analyse reporting on an ongoing basis in order to be able to track performance and highlight and follow up on issues Analyse investments for compliance with processes and fund documentation/investment strategy and restrictions Liaison with Group and AIFM control functions Produce reporting within the AIFM to committees and boards, and presentation where required Conduct initial and ongoing due diligence exercises and produce reports. Maintain internal policies and procedures Assist in producing regular and ad-hoc reports for the CSSF Review fund documentation for the AIFM/portfolio management oversight function, for onboarding and ensure ongoing adherence to regulation and processes, and coordinate with other AIFM and Group functions including legal, risk and compliance Maintain product and oversight records on the document management systems Other product related activities on behalf of the AIFM as required Education & Qualifications: University Degree required (preferably in finance, business, or economics) Advanced Degree, Certification or Professional qualifications would be considered an advantage Experience Required: 2-5 years of oversight related experience with credit, fund of funds, private debt, infrastructure, private equity and/or real estate strategies Professional qualification and/or working knowledge related to regulated activities of AIFMs Strong knowledge of alternative assets Detailed knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards General Requirements: Good communication skills Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English Able to work independently and well organized Proficiency in Excel, Word, Adobe and PowerPoint, and other workflow, data or document management systems Self-motivated and driven Excellent analytical skills High accuracy and detail orientation Strong sense of ownership and accountability Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills Ability to effectively partner with other investment professionals and develop a deep understanding of investment products; ability to articulate and state opinions and listen to others to find solutions Reporting Relationships Managing Director, Portfolio Management & Marketing Oversight There is no set deadline to apply for this job opportunity.
