Senior Database Consultant (Cloud) - Agency Contract - 24 x 7 Shift - RYN

Responsibilities

• Administer and support cloud-hosted database platforms across Azure and AWS environments, including both PaaS and IaaS deployments.
• Manage and maintain Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Database for MariaDB, and AWS PostgreSQL databases.
• Perform routine database health assessments, backup validation, recovery testing, and disaster recovery activities.
• Monitor database performance, availability, and system alerts to ensure operational stability.
• Analyze and optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and configuration improvements.
• Plan and manage database capacity, including storage, memory, CPU, and resource utilization forecasting.
• Implement and maintain database security controls, user access management, and data protection policies.
• Execute database patching, software updates, and version upgrades while minimizing service disruption.
• Lead incident resolution, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures for recurring issues.
• Review and remediate database security vulnerabilities identified through security assessments and monitoring tools.
• Conduct database audits and support compliance reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to deliver database support and enhancements.
• Develop and maintain operational procedures, technical documentation, and knowledge base articles.
• Provide timely support for critical incidents and business-driven ad hoc requests.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in database administration, with significant exposure to cloud-based database platforms.
• Proven experience managing PostgreSQL and MariaDB databases in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience supporting Azure and AWS cloud services.
• Mandatory hands-on experience administering and supporting Windows and Linux servers in cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of database lifecycle management, high availability, disaster recovery, and security best practices.
• Experience working within IT service management frameworks and operational support environments.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
• Experience working in GCC environments will be an added advantage.

• Azure Database Administrator Associate
• Azure Administrator Associate
• AWS Certified Database - Specialty
• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate
• PostgreSQL Professional Certification (EDB or equivalent)
