The primary purpose of this position, SECURITY SPECIALIST, GG-0080-14, is to serve as the Chief, Special Security Branch and Senior Security Technical Advisor to the HQ AFMC Special Security Officer. This is a GG-14 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-14 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-14 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. Candidate has experience working in a Special Security Office (SS) with technical background leading the integration of Physical, Information, Industrial, and Personnel Security to provide wholistic safeguarding and evaluation of SCI protection standards across multiple geographically dispersed SSOs. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Security Administration Series 0080, under Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Administrative and Management Positions for this series. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: demonstration of the knowledge of concepts, principles and practices in security administration and intelligence, and skill in applying this knowledge to difficult and complex work assignments, and to guide the work of other specialists or comprehensive, intensive, practical knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management and skill in applying this knowledge to the development of new methods, approaches, or procedures. Serves as the authoritative source for all information protection disciplines. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices in order to manage protection efforts. Knowledge of the Intelligence Community enterprise to support and promote protection, dissemination, and transmission of classified intelligence sources and methods. Mastery knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs. Expert knowledge in the use of analytical principles, practices, techniques, and risk management to review and evaluate security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: - Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. - Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. - Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification, Security Asset Protection Professional Certification, and Physical Security Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.
